Wednesday took an early morning drive down to Tombstone, "The town too tough to die". It was a beautiful day, so, we stopped by the old courthouse.
The Cochise County Courthouse was built in 1882 in Tombstone at a cost of $42,000. The courthouse contained various county offices, including those of the sheriff, recorder, treasurer, and the Board of Supervisors as well as courtrooms and a jail. The courthouse was in use until 1939, when the county seat moved to Bisbee.
While we were there, the stagecoach passed by.
This is the old reconstructed gallows where seven men were hanged.
Interior shots of the second floor courtroom.
If your in tombstone, be sure to check out the old Cochise County Courthouse.
