I was able to go out quite a few mornings in May to catch the Saguaros in bloom. Such a delicate flower for such a majestic cactus. Saguaros flower from late April through June.
Here is a bird pollinating a saguaro flower. Saguaros are pollinated by birds, bats and insects. After 30 to 40 days, the flower turns into a fruit.
Fat arms with flowers.
Happened upon this horned owl while I was taking pictures of the saguaros. He was on the ground, and I startled him as I was coming up the trail. He took off in front of me. He must have had a six foot wingspan. He flew to a distant saguaro, and I was able to get this shot of him, before he flew into the distance. What a beautiful, amazing creature!
Saguaro blossoms make great black and white subjects.

Saguaro flowers are one of my favorite subjects. It is very relaxing to get up early and hunt for new blossoms. Every day the blossoms are different. Can't wait to next May, so I can go out and do it again.
