Infrared Saguaros

Saguaro's are probably the most recognizable cactus in the world. An icon of the Southwest that can only be found in the Sonoran desert and northern Mexico. It is the largest cactus native to the southwest, reaching heights of up to 60 feetand a girth of 2 1/2 feet. The record height is 78 feet. The fruit can be made into jam, syrup or wine.

A couple of "Old Soldiers" continue to reach to the sky!

A close up of the ribs of an ancient sagauro cactus makes an intriguing subject.

The Majesty of the Saguaro really comes alive when photographed under infrared lighting. These giants can live for over 200 years. This means that these saguaros could possibly have been around during the civil war.
